EWI-222P Performance Basecoat

Product Overview

Performance Basecoat EWI-222P is a polymer-rich, cementitious basecoat designed to deliver reliable performance across a wide range of substrates. It provides a breathable yet waterproof protective layer and is suitable for both render-only projects and external wall insulation systems using EPS insulation. Its dual-purpose formulation allows it to be used as both an adhesive and a reinforcement layer, helping installers achieve high performance while reducing material usage and site waste.

Intended Uses

EWI-222P Performance Basecoat is used for fixing EPS insulation boards to suitable substrates and as a reinforcement layer within EPS-based external wall insulation systems. It is also suitable for render-only applications, where it provides a stable and durable basecoat prior to the application of decorative finishes.

Application Conditions

The basecoat should not be applied if frost is forecast within 24 hours, where humidity exceeds 95%, or where wet weather is expected before the material has set. Application should take place in temperate conditions and must not be carried out in temperatures above 25 °C. The product should also not be applied to elevations that are hot, below 3 °C or in direct sunlight. EWI-222P should be mixed with clean water at a rate of approximately 4.8 litres per 25 kg bag.
