EWI-221 Rapid Set EPS Basecoat

Product Overview

EWI-221 Rapid Set EPS Basecoat is a fast-setting, versatile adhesive designed for time-critical applications where efficiency and reliability are essential. Suitable for use both as a basecoat reinforcement layer and for fixing EPS insulation boards to the substrate, it delivers a compact, durable and waterproof finish with accelerated setting times. While it performs reliably in cooler conditions, its primary benefit is enabling faster programme turnaround, making it ideal for projects where time constraints are a key consideration throughout the year.

Intended Uses

EWI-221 Rapid Set EPS Basecoat has a dual function, much like EPS Basecoat Adhesive EWI-220. It can be used within the basecoat reinforcement layer and for fixing EPS insulation boards to suitable substrates. The product is supplied as a dry mix and must be mixed with water prior to application.

It is not suitable for fixing extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation or for use on bituminous substrates.

Application Conditions

The product should not be applied in rain or humid conditions, or where wet weather is expected before the adhesive has set. While suitable for use in cooler conditions, application should be avoided if the materials or substrate are frozen or if temperatures fall below 0°C.

Protective coverings should be used to shield the applied material from extreme weather conditions during application and for at least 8 hours afterwards.

EWI-221 should be mixed with approximately 5.3 litres of water per 25kg bag of dry mix.
