EWI-226 Aquabase

Product Overview
EWI-226 Aquabase is a water-resistant, vapour-permeable basecoat adhesive designed for use in areas exposed to higher levels of moisture. It actively repels water while remaining breathable, creating a stable and smooth surface suitable for plastering and rendering applications. When used with embedded fibreglass mesh, Aquabase enhances the tensile strength of the system, delivering a durable and long-lasting basecoat capable of withstanding demanding conditions.
Intended Uses
EWI-226 Aquabase is suitable for both internal and external applications, either as a basecoat for render-only systems or for fixing insulation boards to suitable substrates. It is compatible with EPS and XPS insulation boards, making it particularly well-suited for applications below the DPC level where increased moisture resistance is required. The product is also ideal for use in wet rooms and bathrooms.
It is not intended for use in swimming pool applications.

Application Conditions
Aquabase should not be applied in rain or humid conditions, or if wet weather is expected before the adhesive has set.
Aquabase should be applied in temperate weather and should not be used in temperatures above 30°C. Likewise, if the materials or the substrate are frozen, or if there is any risk of frost damage within the first 24 hours, work should be postponed.
Setting time is typically between 24-48 hours, depending upon the environment and humidity.
EWI-226 should be mixed with approximately 5-6 litres of water per 25kg of dry mix.
