Thin Coat Render vs. Monocouche Render

EWI Pro renders offer a wide variety of choice for installers and homeowners. Whether you’re looking to create a very textured, smooth or chalky finish, we’ve got a range of solutions to suit your needs.

Thin Coat Render

EWI Pro thin coat renders come ready to use in buckets. They are tinted within the bucket and are therefore available in almost any shade. Available in four-grain sizes (1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm and 3mm), the versatility of these renders in terms of colour and texture is second to none.

The thin coat render system can be used as a standalone system straight onto a variety of substrates, or it can be applied onto external wall insulation boards to provide the decorative finish.

Because thin coat renders are applied in a very thin layer on top of a reinforced base coat, they have the advantage of being especially crack resistant. Silicone-based thin coat renders also offer greater advantages, such as breathability and self-cleaning performance.

Monocouche Render

A popular render due to its natural texture and aesthetic, there are a range of monocouche renders available on the UK market. Indeed, homeowners tend to be drawn to this type of render due given that it is through-coloured and offers a crisp, flat finish.

The decrease in popularity of sand and cement render has also lead to the rise in interest in Monocouche. This is mainly because it is polymer modified, which means that it offers enhanced performance, far outmatching sand and cement which are known to crack and retain water.

The EWI Pro Monocouche render is available in 18 natural shades and offers a more chalky finish than our other renders. To provide the finished texture, the render is scratched back after application to create a pitted effect.
