Howgate Close in line for Double Award Recognition

The Howgate Close project has made an impressive mark this year, being doubly shortlisted for two esteemed awards: the Green Apple Awards and the British Construction Industry Awards (BCIA). This double award recognition underscores the project’s commitment to environmental sustainability and celebrates its innovative approaches to construction and design.

Green Apple Awards

Howgate Close has won one of the awards for the Environmental Best Practice in Building and Construction category at the Green Apple Awards. This accolade recognises efforts to integrate eco-friendly practices within the building and construction sectors. The awards ceremony was on the 1st of July, and Howgate Close walked away with the Silver Award! This acknowledgement significantly affirms Howgate Close’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of environmental stewardship in construction.

British Construction Industry Awards

Additionally, Howgate Close is shortlisted for the Environmental Project of the Year at the British Construction Industry Awards, set to be held on 9 October 2024 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, London. This category honours projects that deliver substantial environmental improvements for communities and effectively mitigate the impact of extreme weather and climate change. Being recognised in such a critical category highlights Howgate Close’s substantial influence on enhancing resilience and sustainability in the built environment.

Why is this recognition significant?

Being shortlisted for these awards highlights the innovative spirit and environmental consciousness of the Howgate Close project and sets a benchmark for the industry. It is a shining example of how environmental challenges can be addressed through thoughtful and innovative construction practices. This recognition brings to light the project team’s significant work in reducing carbon emissions, enhancing local biodiversity, and improving sustainable living standards for community members.

As Howgate Close awaits the outcomes of these prestigious awards, the project serves as a beacon for future initiatives in the construction industry. Winning at the Green Apple Awards could further validate the project’s environmental strategies. At the same time, a victory at the BCIA would underscore its broader impact on industry standards and community well-being. We’re already extremely proud of the project winning an award at the INCA awards. We also thank Dr Jerry Harrall and Dr Chris Parsons for their tireless work.
