EWI-707 Lime Wash

Product Overview
EWI-707 Lime Wash is a traditional lime-based protective coating designed to preserve and enhance the natural appearance of lime renders, plasters and masonry. Made from diluted lime putty, it maintains full vapour permeability while gently sealing and protecting surfaces as lime finishes continue to cure and carbonate.
Rather than forming a surface film, Lime Wash works with the building fabric, allowing moisture to move freely through the wall. It also acts as a sacrificial protective layer, gradually weathering over time to shield the underlying lime finishes from environmental exposure. The product can also be blended with lime paint to create bespoke, heritage-style finishes with subtle colour variation and depth.

Intended Uses
EWI-707 Lime Wash is suitable for internal and external restoration and decorative applications where breathable finishes are required. It is particularly suited to newly applied lime renders and plasters, historic masonry and conservation projects where traditional materials must be maintained. The product supports vapour-permeable wall constructions and is commonly used within bio-construction and heritage refurbishment, where moisture management and material compatibility are essential.

Application Conditions
Substrates must be firm, clean and dry, free from dust, grease, salts, efflorescence or biological contamination that could impair adhesion. EWI-707 should only be applied to compatible lime-based or breathable mineral substrates to maintain system performance. The product is supplied ready to use and should be stirred gently before application until fully homogeneous.
Application can be carried out using a brush, roller or airless spray unit, ensuring the surface is evenly loaded rather than thinly spread. A minimum of two coats is recommended, allowing adequate drying time between applications. The final appearance will vary depending on the application method, substrate texture and absorbency, contributing to the natural character associated with traditional lime finishes.
