EWI-301 Water Based Substrate Primer

Product Overview

Water Based Substrate Primer is an essential preparatory primer used before installing EWI or render-only systems. It dries completely colourless and works by limiting the amount of water absorbed by the substrate from the adhesive, helping to ensure smooth, effective application. By improving adhesion, it supports a dependable and durable final finish.

Intended Uses

Water Based Substrate Primer is designed for priming a wide range of absorptive substrates, including ordinary and cellular concrete (such as aerated concrete), brickwork, blockwork, structural clay tiles, plaster coats, gypsum panels and gypsum plasterboards. It is applied before paints, adhesives, cement or cement and lime-based plaster coats, skim finishes, ceramic tiling, floor screeds and wallpaper.

Application Conditions

Application and setting temperatures should be between +5°C and +25°C. The primer should be applied in temperate weather and must not be used in temperatures above 30°C. Application should be postponed if the substrate or materials are frozen.

Do not apply in rain, humid conditions, or where wet weather is expected before the primer has dried. Drying time is typically between 12 and 48 hours, depending on environmental conditions and humidity.
