PRO-533 Tanking Membrane

Product Overview

Tanking Membrane is a one-component, ready-to-use waterproofing compound based on acrylic resin dispersion. It forms a seamless, flexible and durable barrier that protects surfaces from moisture ingress, making it ideal for use in bathrooms, wet rooms, walk-in showers, basements and other damp or moisture-prone areas. The membrane offers excellent adhesion to a wide range of common substrates and provides long-lasting waterproof protection while accommodating minor movement through its elastic, crack-bridging properties.

Intended Uses

Tanking Membrane is designed for waterproofing internal areas exposed to regular moisture. It is suitable for application onto concrete, cement-lime and gypsum plasters, screeds including underfloor heating systems, and plasterboard. For optimal performance and adhesion, substrates should be primed with Water Based Substrate Primer (EWI-301) prior to application. The membrane provides a secure waterproof layer before the installation of finishes such as ceramic tiles.

Application Conditions

The membrane should be applied using a brush or roller in a minimum of two uniform coats, allowing at least 3 hours drying time between layers. Application should take place when air, substrate and product temperatures are between +5 °C and +25 °C. On substrates with movement or expansion joints, insulation tape should be incorporated between coats. Once fully cured, only elastic and deformable tile adhesives should be used when fixing tiles. Subsequent construction work should be carried out no sooner than 18–24 hours after application to ensure full waterproof performance.
