Product Overview

EWI-705 Lime Paint is a breathable, lime-based decorative coating designed to complete fully lime-based wall systems from substrate to finish. Formulated from natural limestone, it works in harmony with lime renders and plasters, allowing walls to regulate moisture naturally while providing durable protection and colour.

Unlike modern film-forming paints, EWI-705 chemically bonds with the mineral substrate, creating a soft, matte finish that develops character over time. Its naturally high alkalinity provides antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping maintain healthier internal and external environments while delivering a timeless, heritage-appropriate appearance. Available in a range of preset colours as well as thousands of bespoke options, it offers excellent design flexibility without compromising breathability or system performance.

Intended Uses

EWI-705 Lime Paint is suitable for both internal and external decorative applications where vapour permeability and traditional mineral finishes are required. It is designed for use on breathable lime-based substrates, including lime renders and lime plasters, and is particularly well suited to heritage restoration, conservation projects and bio-construction. The paint supports healthy moisture regulation within wall structures, making it an ideal finish for both internal walls and external façades within breathable building systems.

Application Conditions

Substrates must be clean, dry and structurally sound, free from dust, grease, salts, biological growth or other contaminants that may impair adhesion. EWI-705 should only be applied to compatible mineral and lime-based surfaces to ensure full system breathability. The paint is supplied ready to use and should be stirred thoroughly at low speed before application until fully homogeneous.

Application can be carried out using a brush, roller or airless spray unit, applying the material generously to load the surface rather than spreading thinly. A minimum of two coats is recommended, with typical coverage of approximately 3–4 m² per litre per coat depending on substrate absorbency. Adequate drying time should be allowed between coats, and the final appearance will naturally vary depending on application method, surface texture and absorbency.
