Product Overview

EWI-002 Silicate Paint is a durable, breathable mineral paint formulated with potassium water glass to provide a long-lasting decorative finish for internal and external mineral surfaces. Unlike film-forming coatings, silicate paint bonds chemically with the substrate, creating a highly durable, weather-resistant surface while maintaining excellent vapour permeability. This helps façades remain breathable, reducing the risk of trapped moisture while protecting surfaces from UV exposure, water and environmental contamination.

Intended Uses

EWI-002 Silicate Paint is designed for application on mineral substrates including lime-cement renders, mineral plasters and concrete. It is suitable for both internal and external use and can also be applied to façades incorporating external wall insulation systems where a breathable decorative finish is required. Due to its high vapour permeability, it is particularly well suited to older or heritage buildings where moisture management within the building fabric is essential.

Application Conditions

Substrates must be clean, dry and stable prior to application. Remove dust, dirt, oils, mould or algae using a suitable cleaner, and repair any damaged areas before painting. Where required, apply EWI-333 Topcoat Primer to regulate absorbency and improve adhesion. EWI-002 Silicate Paint is supplied ready to use and should be stirred thoroughly before application. Apply using a brush, roller or spray equipment, ensuring both air and substrate temperatures are between +5°C and +25°C. Avoid application in direct sunlight, strong wind, rain or frost. Allow a minimum of 12 hours between coats to ensure proper curing and colour consistency.
