What are the New RCS Components?
The introduction of the Roofline Closure Systems naturally comes with a completely new set of RCS components. These components are manufactured in standard sizes; however, they are also tailored and manufactured to size, depending on the initial survey. Several rules apply to all the features we detail in this blog.
New RCS components
Upstand
Upstand RCS is designed for applications where fixing is from above, such as connecting to a flat roof or sliding up behind the fascia board. It is available in various widths to accommodate different thicknesses of insulation. The Upstand RCS integrates into the Roofline Closure System to create a completely waterproof seal, thus ensuring water falls away from the EWI system.
- This RCS complies with PAS2035 standards and can be used in ECO installations. Before installing RCS, please seek compliance training with a system designer.
- As per new Roofline Closure System regulations, each piece must overlap the insulation system by 40mm or 50mm in severe weather zones. The pieces will be made upon request for certain projects requiring a 50mm overlap, with a minimum lead time of one week.
- For example, with 90mm of insulation in situ, the Upstand RCS must be 130mm wide.
- All RCS profiles are fabricated with a 10-degree pitch to facilitate water runoff.
Upstand connector
Upstand Connector Joints for the Roofline Closure Systems facilitate the creation of a seamless weatherproof seal. They do so by connecting the Upstand RCS to another Upstand RCS.
These connectors are 300mm in length to satisfy the overlapping requirements of the External Wall Insulation Specifications for Weathering and Thermal Bridge Control.
- This RCS complies with PAS2035 standards and can be used in ECO installations. Please seek out compliance training with a system designer before installing RCS.
- All RCS profiles are fabricated with a 10-degree pitch to facilitate water runoff.
Upstand external corner connector
The Upstand External Corner Connector is a versatile and essential component in the Roofline Closure System. It is designed to provide a seamless connection at both internal and external roofline corners. As a generic model, it functions similarly to the Gable Corner Connector, ensuring a secure and weatherproof seal at the intersection of two roof sections.
This connector is specifically crafted to meet the PAS 2035 requirements. It offers robust protection against thermal bridging and water ingress, which is critical for energy efficiency and weather resistance. Its universal design allows it to fit a variety of roofline configurations while maintaining the integrity and aesthetics of the structure. It is ideal for both retrofit and new-build projects.
Downstand
Downstand RCS is designed for applications where you are fixing from below. It is available in various different widths to house different thicknesses of insulation. The Downstand RCS integrates into the Roofline Closure System to create a completely waterproof seal, thus ensuring water falls away from the EWI system.
- This RCS complies with PAS2035 standards and can be used in ECO installations. Please seek out compliance training with a system designer before installing RCS.

- For example, with 90mm of insulation in situ, the Downstand RCS must be 130mm wide.
- All RCS profiles are fabricated with a 10-degree pitch to facilitate water runoff.

Downstand with horizontal lip
The RCS downstand with horizontal lip is a profile that offers a sleek, secure solution for roof edges and wall-roof interfaces. Designed like a downstand but with an added lip for insertion into the surface, it ensures a flush, seamless appearance while providing superior stability and weatherproofing.
The lip securely fits into a groove or recess in the surface, enhancing resistance to wind uplift and water ingress. Made from aluminium, treated for UV and corrosion resistance, this profile ensures long-lasting performance in environments with harsh weather conditions.
End caps and mitre joints
End Caps are vital RCS components, effectively sealing the ends of the system. Aside from the aesthetic finish, End Caps are crucial in providing protection and weatherproofing for the EWI system. A sealed Roofline Closure System protects the EWI system from water ingress, which could lead to degradation and spalling.
RCS Mitre Joints are pre-formed joints designed to cover corner joints. They are site-formed mitre joints with two separate profiles that are no longer permissible under the Roofline Closure Systems regulations.
- As per new Roofline Closure System regulations, each piece must overlap the insulation system by 40mm or 50mm in severe weather zones. The pieces will be made upon request for certain projects requiring a 50mm overlap, with a minimum lead time of one week.

Apex and gable corner connector
The Apex Connector Downlip is a crucial profile in the Roofline Closure System, designed to overlap and seal joints between downstand profiles, preventing thermal bridging and water ingress. Made from durable, corrosion-resistant aluminium, it provides long-lasting protection against harsh weather. Its seamless design allows easy installation, ensuring a flush, professional finish at profile junctions while enhancing thermal performance and waterproofing. Ideal for maintaining structural integrity and optimising energy efficiency.
The Gable Corner Connector is a critical RCS component, specifically designed for roof extensions and gable end junctions. Its primary function is to ensure a secure and weatherproof connection at the corners of the roofline, where two roof sections meet. Before installing this connector, it is important to know that it comes in two distinct designs, one for each side. These connectors are not interchangeable, and their installation must follow this specific pattern for proper functionality and fit.
This bespoke design ensures that each connector perfectly aligns with the roof’s geometry, creating a flush finish and maintaining the integrity of the roofline. The Gable Corner Connectors eliminate gaps, preventing thermal bridging and water ingress while ensuring a clean and professional appearance for the facade.
Ideal for use in roof extensions, the Gable Corner Connector plays a key role in delivering a weather-tight, energy-efficient, and aesthetically pleasing roofline closure solution.
Dropdown external corner connector
The Dropdown External Corner Connector is a highly specialised RCS component, designed to provide a secure, weather-resistant connection between the surface and insulation at roofline corners. Featuring a 40mm overhang, extending up to 50mm in severe weather conditions, this connector ensures exceptional coverage and protection against the elements.
The Dropdown External Corner Connector is precision-engineered for internal and external corners, with dedicated models for each that are not interchangeable, guaranteeing a perfect fit and optimal performance at critical junctions. Built to the highest energy efficiency and weatherproofing standards, this connector effectively mitigates thermal bridging and water ingress, making it ideal for both new builds and retrofit projects, even in the most challenging environmental conditions.
